Testmate MW100 handheld microwave leakage tester – for carrying out leakage tests on microwave ovens.
If you are carrying out electrical safety checks on a microwave oven, then the latest guidelines recommend that the oven is also tested for microwave leakage. Leakage can occur if the microwave oven is old, or food gets into the rubber surround, affecting the door seal.
This small, handheld tester will easily check for microwave leakage in homes, offices, restaurants, school kitchens, factories, shops etc.
Microwave leakage is measured in milliwatts per square centremetre (mW/cm2) and the accepted pass value is 5mW/cm2 or less. The Microwave Leakage Detector gives you a digital readout of the leakage (mW/cm2) detected as well as an audible warning when leakage exceeds the allowed limit.
The MW100 microwave leakage tester is designed to measure leakage in accordance within BS EN 60335-2-25:2002 for domestic microwave ovens, and within BS EN 60335-2-90:2002 for Commercial microwave ovens.
Once you have tested the microwave for electrical safety and microwave leakage, you should place a suitable label on the appliance to show that it has been tested.
The MW100 microwave leakage tester is quick and simple to use – the device automatically self-checks and calibrates to zero. It is then moved around the seal of the appliance, where it will measure any leakage. It is normal to measure 1 or 2 mW/cm2 in places, but if any readings of more than 5mW/cm2 are obtained, the microwave oven should be taken out of use and inspected by a qualified engineer.
Because this device is able to calibrate to zero, it would not normally be necessary to have it calibrated regularly.
The Microwave Leakage Tester is in stock at Yotari now.
